How It Works
The steps you will need to follow to work with South Texas Medical Management.
-
If you’re unsure whether your diagnosis qualifies for cannabis treatment, you can schedule an eligibility consultation through our scheduling page. Our experienced staff will assist you in obtaining the necessary support.
For undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), no prior diagnosis or medical records are needed. Texas laws permit treatment of PTSD symptoms such as insomnia, aggression, intrusive thoughts, and anxiety with cannabinoids, which have demonstrated effectiveness. Our cannabis clinicians can conduct a PTSD assessment during your appointment to determine your eligibility.
For all other qualifying conditions, medical records are required to receive a prescription. You’ll need to submit your medical records before your appointment with our medical providers.
-
During this consultation, one of our providers will meet with you virtually to discuss your interest in medical cannabis and your primary concerns or symptoms. If you meet the criteria, you’ll receive a prescription tailored to the most suitable product for your specific needs. This prescription will remain valid for six months.
Things to Keep in Mind Before Your Appointment:
- Ensure you upload documentation of your diagnosis to your account before your appointment (this step does not apply to undiagnosed PTSD).
- You can obtain your previous medical records by contacting the doctor’s office where your diagnosis was made, either by phone or email.”
-
Once your consultation is over, you will be entered into the CURT registry and contacted by a dispensary within one business day following your appointment. The dispensary will help you find the best product options for you based on your current prescription(s). The dispensary will give you three options for receiving your product:
Pickup at the dispensary in Austin, TX.
Pay to have the product shipped to your house using a courier service.
Pickup from one of the dispensaries’ drop-off locations. -
Because our prescriptions are issued for six-month durations, it’s necessary to schedule recurring follow-up appointments every half-year to maintain an active prescription. This is an ideal opportunity to evaluate your progress and consider any necessary adjustments to your prescription.
If you need to modify your dosage, discuss this with a practitioner before your next follow-up appointment. You may qualify to adjust your dosage within the current six-month prescription period if less than 90 days have elapsed since your last comprehensive appointment. However, if more than 90 days have passed, a full follow-up appointment will be required to make any adjustments.
